Colored Pencil Flowers
I don’t think I have ever used colored pencils in a video before! They are actually quite easy to use. I used PrismaColor pencils, which are very nice, rich pencils. I haven’t tried using ordinary colored pencils from Crayola – I don’t know how they would compare. But really, if you are looking for a more economical alternative to Copic Markers, these wouldn’t be a bad choice.
I started using Neenah cardstock on my first try at this. Then, for some reason, I grabbed a piece of Stampin’ Up! cardstock for the next try. I was getting really frustrated about my coloring when I finally realized that I was using different paper. The Neenah cardstock gives the pencils a chalky sort of application, which allows them to lay thick on the cardstock and blend. The Stampin’ Up! cardstock gives the pencils kind of a waxy application, not blending well, and frankly not giving very good coverage. I was very surprised by the paper difference.
When I first created this card, I used a red background (where you see the blue above). I didn’t like it, so I dismantled the card (and didn’t take a photo of it). Next, I tried a brown background (scroll to see below). I was ok with it, but ultimately decided that it wasn’t working for me. Finally I tried blue and decided I liked that the best. What do you think?
Anyway, enjoy the video and have a great week!
